Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has landed himself in the infamous Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, which has been described as ‘hell on Earth’ after his arrest this week.
As Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs awaits his trial date he will be spending the coming weeks inside the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, which has been dubbed as ‘hell on Earth’ by prisoners.
P Diddy was arrested earlier this week and faces federal charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution. The I’ll Be Missing You hitmaker pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday with his lawyers offering $50 million for bail and in-home detention. However, this request was denied by two judges and now he has been ordered to remain inside MDC until his trial date.
And as Diddy behind bars at the infamous prison, renowned for it’s grim and dangerous conditions, it has been revealed that he still has two and a half weeks left until his court date. Combs’ next appearance in court has reportedly been scheduled for October 9 when his legal team will attempt to have him released or transferred to another prison.
His lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, previously told CNN that he’s not going to allow Diddy to “sit in that jail a day longer than he has to.” Diddy’s attorneys acknowledged the unsuitable conditions when they filed a motion for bail as they wrote that “several courts in this District have recognized that the conditions at Metropolitan Detention Center are not fit for pre-trial detention.”
In this, they also mentioned the string of violence that has occurred on the premises including the murder of an inmate over the summer. On June 7, a man named Uriel Whyte, who was waiting for his trial on gun charges for over two years, was stabbed to death inside the MDC. And just over a month later, a second inmate, Edwin Cordero, died after being injured in a jail fight.
In addition to this, at least four other inmates that have died by suicide in the jail over the past three years. Following the death of his fellow inmate, a prisoner named Eli told Spectrum News NY1 that the facility is “very violent” and claimed that there’s “stabbings at least a couple times a week.”
On top of this, the jail has alleged rat and cockroach infestations, overflowing toilets, mold in the showers, and freezing temperatures after a fire cut off heat to areas of the building. The jail has previously housed a number of notable criminals including Jeffery Epstein, R Kelly, ISIL-inspired terrorists, Mafia bosses, sex cultists, and more.
A source from within the jail spoke to The Mirror US, stating: “Some people have gone into the MDC and never come out. It is notoriously tough, and there is no doubt Diddy will, like Maxwell, be a target inside. His lawyers will be doing all they can to get him out. It is a monumental fall from grace. One day he’s living the millionaire life, and now he’s in hell on earth.”
